It´s no surprise to find some inputs from characters of popular 2D fighter games to be put on even the less popular ones, because you have to find a way to make a move input simple enough for the player?Ģ- Can you translate both the movesets/inputs, AND charm of a fighting game character to another? Now we´re onto the second perspective. And what about Iron Tager from Blazblue: Calamity Trigger and his Spark Bolt? This attack has the input of back-forward-punch, the same input as Raphael´s Flip-Flap Attack in TMNT Torunament Fighters on SNED. Unsurprisingly, this is the same input that Ryu from Street Fighter has to make his iconic Hadouken proyectyle attack. For example, Sub Zero from Mortal Kombat has used the input "down-forward-punch" to lance his Ice Freezing attack. We have to remember that fighting game characters are programmed with certain control inputs to make X type of attack, especially in 2D-plane fighting games. Now, it´s understandable how MvC´s well-built fanbase feels offended by this statement, but what if fighting game characters are actually built around functions? I think almost every fighting gamer knows that what Rosas meant with functions was movesets/attack inputs, especifically: What if you can translate the moveset of a character to another character? What if one character can use the same input for proyectile attacks as well as the character who previously used that input? What if the grappling functions of a character can be passed to another? Well we have to see his argument from two perspectives.ġ- Can you translate the moveset of a character to another character? Well, this part is possible. That somebody who has associated themselves with Magneto wouldn't be lost coming into this title. We wanted to make sure that if a legacy character doesn't happen to make the roster this time, that play style would still be represented. The design team has been looking at that very closely. We made sure that all proper play styles can be represented with our current roster. It's just the function that people are associating with the character, and there's no shortage of that. Well guess what, Nova can do the same thing, Captain Marvel can do the same thing. Magneto, case and point, is a favorite because he has eight-way dash and he's really fast, right? So our more technical players, all they want to do is triangle jump and that kind of stuff. If you were to actually think about it, these characters are just functions.
